Walter Wilkins, 13th Circuit Court solicitor, announces retirement
W. Walter Wilkins, solicitor of the state’s 13th Circuit Court serving Greenville and Pickens counties, announced his retirement May 29.
“It is with a heavy and grateful heart that I announce my retirement after over fourteen years as the longest serving Solicitor of the 13th Circuit. After careful consideration, I have decided to take advantage of my retirement eligibility and the opportunity to enter the practice of law with my father for the first time in either of our professional capacities,” said Wilkins in a statement.
He was first elected as solicitor in November 2010 and has served in the role since January 2011.
Wilkins has also served as an attorney with Lockheed Martin Aircraft in Argentina and as an adjunct professor at Greenville Technical College, and has worked with Leatherwood, Walker, Todd and Mann.
In 2005, Wilkins was appointed Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Greenville office. President George W. Bush appointed him the United States Attorney for the District of South Carolina in 2008.
He is a graduate of Wofford College and the University of South Carolina School of Law.
