Late-night permits approved for Scout’s, STIR: Greenville Board of Zoning Appeals notes
Here is a recap of the May 8 city of Greenville Board of Zoning Appeals meeting. Both matters on the agenda were deferred from the board’s April 11 meeting.
Scout’s Doughnuts owner Ryland Rainsford applied for a special-exception permit that would allow its Main Street location in downtown Greenville to operate after midnight. The matter was deferred in April after the applicant was unable to fulfill the public-notice requirement before deadline. It was approved during its May return allowing for late-night doughnuts at 2 N. Main St. The shop will also introduce outdoor seating. The agenda notes that an application for an encroachment agreement is pending with the city.
STIR Greenville, a new cocktail and seafood-forward restaurant, applied for a special-exception permit allowing it to operate after midnight. This matter was also deferred following the inability to fulfill the public-notice requirement and was approved with the condition that the bar can remain open until 1 a.m. but the patio must close at midnight. Members of the community did express excitement for the upcoming establishment but discontent that its operating hours would run until after midnight. STIR recently announced its timeline for opening in June at 214 E. McBee St.
